Your final ingredient in your soil preparation is Humus, which is essentially compost and can be bought at your local garden nursery or organic gardening supply store. It can be based with either animal manures, or vegetable matter.
Alternatively, you can create your own compost at home, starting with a base of straw, and add green and brown plant material from your yard, including your lawn and garden. You can even include vegetable peelings from your own kitchen.
You can make your compost in compost bins, available in many garden nurseries, with instructions for other materials you can add to give you a rich source of organic material to enrich the soil in your garden.
