Lemon Tree In Your Yard

A lemon tree in your yard can supply fresh lemons for your salads and family meals. You may like fresh lemons picked off your tree on the same day, rather than buying lemons from the fruit grocer, picked weeks or months ago. When you use freshly picked lemons, you will notice the extra natural flavor in your salads and meals.

Growing a lemon tree in your yard, should be one of the more essential and easy tasks for every gardener. Once the tree is planted and the tree grows to its full potential, there are plenty of lemons to go around and you may have some of your neighbors knocking on your door asking for some of your lemons.

When you grow your own lemon tree, you know if you have placed chemicals on the tree, but if you buy lemons from the store, you do not know what the farmer used to grow those lemons and other fruit and vegetables.

If you use organic compost on the soil around the lemon tree, and watering it, then you will give all the natural nutrition your plant needs, without using any chemicals. These days, people have taken up growing their own fruit and vegetables, using organic gardening methods and avoid the use of harmful chemicals on their fruit and vegetables.

If you have space in your yard, you can grow other fruit trees, like apple and pear trees. If you are restricted for space you can purchase miniature fruit trees from your local nursery to grow delicious fresh fruit.

Now, there is no excuse to be without fresh lemons for your salads and meals from your favorite lemon tree.

Feeding Different Types of Birds

To have a relaxing and fulfilling day at home, the viewing of birds is very ideal. For this reason, home owners should take the time to find out the right bird feeding materials needed. Bird feeders come in different styles and varieties. Some examples are the platform feeders, thistle feeders, suet bird feeders, tube feeders and the ground feeders.

Migratory birds are often provided food with platform feeders. These bird feeding materials have open designs, thus making them ideal for birds who are always keeping an open eye out for possible predators. When they see one, they can simply fly away and leave the feeder. Platform feeders can also accommodate varied types of birds and because of the open design, space is never a problem. The same thing can also be said of the ground feeders.

Providing a suet bird feeder is one way to attract interesting types of birds, such as Northern Flickers, as well as Pileated, Red Bellied, Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers. Suet feeders are cages made from wires and you just simply place suet cakes in them and wait for birds to perch. With bird feeding materials, you really have a lot of choices. Just make sure you provide the right one for the birding sights you want to see.

Fill them up with your suet cakes or your favorite homemade recipe.

As well, a squirrel proof bird feeder, like a sandwich feeder, is perfect to keep nuisances, such as squirrels and raccoons away. These feeders basically use two pieces of wood that are securely bolted together on both ends. The cake or treat is placed in between the pieces of wood, where Woodpeckers, Chickadees and Nuthatches can easily grasp the treat.
