Garden supply stores may have all you need to maintain your garden

Garden supply stores are all over the country and can meet all your needs to maintain your garden, lawn, flower beds and trees.

You may need to repair your lawn, with some lawn seeds from the local nursery. You may need some bulbs for your flower beds and some blood and bone fertilizer to feed a hungry garden.

All these can be obtained from your garden supply store. Avid gardeners are at their local garden supply store almost every other day, replenishing their garden supplies to maintain their garden.

Let’s look first at the larger type of garden supply store. These are usually the backbone of a strip mall, dominating the scene in a can’t–misst–it sort of way.

Once you step inside, you might not know where to begin. These are organized like department stores, with patio furniture and cute little bistro tables having their own section. You’ll find patio table umbrellas, hammocks, gazebos, potting benches and lounge furniture.

Seasonal flower bulbs in their bins, with colorful pictures above each showing the resulting display next season is enough to make you grab a basket.

In the actual nursery area, the large garden supply store carries something for everyone, from herbs and cacti in little pots to fruit trees in 15t–gallon containers.

Of course you’ll find every garden tool you could think of, with garden hoses, sprinklers and irrigation systems to suit every style and method of gardening.

Smaller garden supply stores tend to specialize in their plant selections and carry unique and hand made garden accessories. Their book selections are often hand picked by the owner to be useful in the context of their stock.

Grass Seed for a Green Lawn

Grass seed is available at your local nursery and home improvement store.

When looking at repairing your lawn, you can take into account the type of grass you already have on your property, so that you can add to the current grass.

If you are to replace your current lawn with a total new grass, then speak to the nursery lawn staff and they should advise you on the best growing grass suited to your area.

This should result in a new grass lawn using your new grass seed. It should look the best lawn on the street, as it has the newest and best grass seed to grow a green lawn in your area.

A green lawn is the best lawn in town. This factor would help maintain the value of your property.

Columbine Flower - A beautiful flower for your home garden

Columbine flower is a common flower and variations of this flower can be found in many parts of the world, from North America to Europe.

There are more than 65 species of Columbine flowers and they can be found growing in the wild and in home gardens. Their colours vary from white, yellow, blue and all the way to pink. The size of the plant ranges from a few inches, to several feet tall.

The beautiful Columbine flower belongs to the genus Aquilegia, one of the most common and prolific flowering plants in the Northern hemisphere.

The common name, Columbine, derives from Latin and means “dove”. You’ll see why if you view the flower from beneath – it looks very much like a flock of doves circled around a bird bath.

Table Top Fountains - The Sound of Moving Water

I have a number of table top fountains around the home. One in the garden around the back of the house and one at the front of the house.

First time visitors always discuss the beauty and quietness of moving water around the fountain. They always thought it would be loud and noisy like a waterfall.

Well, if the table top fountain was as large as a mountain waterfall, maybe the moving water would make much more noise.

Fortunately for the neighborhood and our family peace of mind, our table top fountains are relatively small and quiet.

If you try, you can hear the small splashes of water.

Indoor Herb Garden - Grow your own herbs

Indoor herb garden is a nice way to grow your own herbs, replacing the need to buy the freeze dried herbs you normally get from your supermarket.

When you grown your own herbs, the ingredients are always fresh and you know if there have been any insecticides, fungicides and any other chemicals on your indoor herb garden.

When you consider the herbs you buy from your local food store, you don’t know what kind of chemicals have been used to get the product you have in your hand, unless the label states its certified organic, then its chemical free.

This is why I set up my first indoor herb garden. I just don’t like the idea of chemicals spoiling the taste of the herbs that I will use in my cooking.
