Home Garden For Garden Fresh Produce

More and more people are getting into growing their own fresh fruits and vegetables by planting a home garden. Many are enjoying their fresh garden produce during the growing season and are also preserving it for later use by freezing and canning.

Even those who were not previously interested in gardening have become motivated to grow their own produce as they have learned that store-bought fruits and vegetables are often nutrient-deficient.

In addition to concerns about the quality and safety of store-bought produce, another reason why people love to have a home garden bursting with wonderful foods is that you can go out and pick the vegetables at just the right time to assure freshness. Compare this with tomatoes, for example, that are picked long before they ripen, transported, stored and finally put on the store shelf.

Aside from all of the benefits of a home garden for providing wonderful food and tasty herbs for your meals, many people simply love being in the garden, weeding, watering and tending their crops.

There is a great sense of satisfaction in planting and tending the garden and in seeing your efforts bloom and grow. And, sharing a meal of good food with friends is a feeling many people treasure.

Explore North American National Parks

The future preservation of nature is dependent upon the creation of new national parks around the world. With construction and the demands for housing eating up huge tracts of land, preservation is more important now than ever before.

New national parks are being created every year around the world. The reasons range from protecting ecosystems to memorializing historic accomplishments.

Another very new national park is the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado. Thought of as a national monument since 1932, the dunes were designated a national park in 2004 so that the surrounding area could be adequately protected. The dunes are an appealing tourist attraction, mainly due to their incredible height and the fact that they move at such a rapid pace.

One part of the Great Sand Dunes has actually taken over a forest. Medano Creek is another favorite site to visit. It will make you feel as though you are at a beach . The Great Sand Dunes of Colorado is an interesting place to witness ecosystems living together.

These are only a few of the new national parks that you can witness firsthand. Areas still untouched by man are difficult to find and disappearing quickly. If you would like to learn more about Canadian national parks and be a part of history in the making, visit www.pc.gc.ca. For American parks, stop by www.nps.gov to find more information.

Reasons To Visit The National Park Service Website

The National Parks Service is a government entity that watches over federally regulated United States national parks. It is difficult to organize all of the information that is involved in covering millions of acres in every state. The National Park Service website (www.nps.gov) is a great help when it comes to making sense of all of this.

The site has a section for teachers and kids. You will find this by looking beyond the home page's map. Look to the left and below the map, and you will find links to pages that detail the history of the NPS.

The teachers and kids area of the National Park Service's website is one that anyone is free to visit - and everyone should. The information on national parks and monuments is presented in an entertaining, fun way to encourage learning and education.

There are games like WebRangers, lists of activities at different parks in the GoZone, and resource materials for teachers and volunteers working with children. This section holds plenty of stuff, and the whole National Park Website is a great one to visit for all your needs!
