Attract Birds To Your Yard With A Birdfeeder

Birdfeeder in your yard is the way you can attract birds to fly in and stay around. There may be a variety of birds in your area and you want to invite them with bird feeders and bird baths. By observing the variety of birds in your local area, you may realise there are hummingbirds, songbirds, wild birds and others. You need to place different feeders in your yard to attract different birds.

For example, with hummingbirds you need a hummingbird feeder, as these birds like the sweet liquid found in a hummingbird feeder. Other birds like fruit like cherries, while others like bird seed. If you notice the birds are not eating from your bird feeder, see if you can identify the bird and find out what type of food it really likes. Sometimes, you can use trial and error. Most birds like bird seed, while hummingbirds ignore bird seed.

You need to be careful where you place each bird feeder as the bird seed may be eaten by squirrels, leaving little for the birds. You can buy squirrel proof bird feeders to prevent squirrels taking away the seed. You also need to ensure the bird feeders are placed in a safe location in your yard, to prevent predators attacking the birds.

There are bird feeders you can place close to your window, to view the bird flying towards your window. These are window feeders. All you need is tinted glass windows and the birds will not feel threatened as they cannot see you. It is always fascinating to see the bird flying in all their glory, to feed on the food in the bird feeder.

You may place a window bird feeder and watch birds flying towards your window to feed from the bird feeder. All you need is a tinted window and the birds will not know you are watching them.

You may notice squirrels climbing up to the wild bird feeders and eating the seed, leaving little for the wild birds to eat. You can look to see where the squirrels are coming from and if you notice they are coming from the same direction in the yard, you can place squirrel feeders on the way and they will forget all about the wild bird feeders.

Place the squirrel feeders as far away from the bird feeders as possible, to ensure the squirrels notice the squirrel feeders before they are attracted by the bird feeders.

There are other attractions you can make for your wild birds, so they can spend more time in you yard. You can place one or two bird baths for the birds to splash about in the heat of summertime.

Improve Your Landscape With Lawn Ornaments

Lawn ornaments can be placed in areas of your lawn to decorate your yard. Rather than just green grass everywhere, you can place outdoor furniture, centerpieces, a vegetable garden, an inground solar pool and even a fish pond.

One of your centerpieces may be a water fountain in the yard, and even another water fountain in your garden, blending in with the greenery of the growing plants in the garden. You may even place a stone walkway to the front door of your home, to add a little variation to the front yard landscape.

A lawn swing and play areas with set swings for your children, may be another idea. You want your children to step outside the house, away from television and computer games, and get their daily exercise in your yard. You may even place a basketball hoop with a net in your yard.

You can consider some of these ideas, to decorate the lawn area of the yard. You can make small changes over a period of time, taking into account your family needs and requirements.
