Tips And Better Ideas For Organic Gardening With Containers

There are many options for organic gardening with containers, including old plastic pots, watering cans bowls and canisters. When choosing a container, you need to ensure there is a drain hole near the bottom, so the pot will not be saturated with water, in order to avoid rotting the roots of the plant. But, you can also buy a wide range of terracotta and other containers in garden nurseries and department stores.

While you are at the garden nursery, you should also look for good organic soil for your containers. You can also use your own, by purchasing soil, and mixing it with sand and compost. The ratio would be equal parts of each.

Then, add in a bit of peat and organic perlite mixing it all together. This is the ideal type of soil that will absorb water, and let the excess water drain out. You also need to ensure, the soil is well watered when it goes into the pot, to give your plants a good head start.
