Attracting Martins To Your Backyard With Purple Martin Houses

One way to ensure the attraction of martins to your yard, is to place your purple Martin houses near a body of water. If you are building the Martin houses yourself, then you should search online for various charts and floor plans you can use for martin houses, depending on your type of yard.

After your martin houses have been set up in your yard, you will notice a couple of birds arrive and start nesting. At one time, it was believed that these birds came to scope out the new breeding places for the flock, but the birds are really just the first to arrive to your martin houses on the way back to their nesting site from the year before.

After a period of time, you may notice the birds will arrive at the martin houses around the same time every year. You should cover the houses, until it is time for the martins to migrate to your region.
