Interior Design With The Latest Trends

Interior design is the arranging of open space, furniture, colors, patterns, shapes, lighting, walls and other interior features to create an aesthetically pleasing and safe indoor environment. Some of the latest interior design trends include: ergonomic design, elder design and environmental design.

Ergonomic furniture seeks to improve circulation and posture, while minimizing body strain. Elder designs seek to plan spaces around wheelchair accessibility and comfort. Environmental interior design ideas include using eco-friendly building materials and energy efficient features, plus the inclusion of more green space in homes.

If the interior design ideas are approved by the client, the interior design professional can then identify materials for flooring, furniture, lighting fixtures, wall coverings, paint, plants, artwork, window coverings, molding and other approved features.

The designer may have to check with construction inspectors to meet building codes and regulations or an architectural engineer may need to come in to complete the technical tasks. The designer will then construct a timeline to present to the client, which will include contractor schedules, installation dates and arranged follow-ups to ensure client satisfaction.

The interior design work environment is varied. Often interior designers will run between the field and the office, working with clients half the time and on their computers/design studios the other half. As can be expected, architectural firms and interior design company offices are some of the most relaxed, aesthetically pleasing environments to work in.

However, some designers are self-employed and work from home, while others work at furniture stores. Often a designer will shuttle to conventions, exhibitions, manufacturing centers and design showrooms.
