Bird watching is a very popular hobby that has helped many people escape the confines of their homes and offices. Most bird watchers have a checklist and over time will try to spot each of the bird species on the list. You can easily become engrossed in finding your next bird.

Okay, the first thing you should know is that birds come in different sizes. This is very common knowledge and you have undoubtedly seen many different bird species. Just as an example, take the ostrich.

This is the biggest bird in the species and it is very easy to spot. You may not find them outside of a ranch or zoo in the Western Hemisphere but when you do see them, you will know it. On the opposite end of the spectrum are hummingbirds. You have to work at seeing these incredibly small, fast creatures.

Birds are not for everyone. Some people just do not like the species. However, if you do love watching these wild animals in their own habitats, then you will definitely enjoy being a bird watcher.

Do not worry about how many there are to see. Just concentrate on having a good time and enjoying yourself. It gets you out of the house and it will do your body and mind good to get outside and get some exercise.
